How to Win Repeating Customers + Client Referrals

Those are not just the lyrics to an Eminem song but it’s a song that has really repositioned how I think about my clients. Want to know why? Because there’s only one thing that separates me from other freelancers and that’s opportunity. Because I live like this on a day to day basis I have not only been able to win repeating customers but also client referrals.
Changing your thinking is only one way I’ve been able to be successful in this area but there’s a plethora of other reasons why as well. Here are just a few ways I’ve been able to win repeating clients and customer referrals.
Give and it shall be given unto you, is not just a cliche term we here in church it’s actually true. If you want your client to keep coming back to you for business simply ask. If you want them to refer clients to you, ask for referrals and even consider giving a discount to your client for sending referrals your way.
Offer Special Discounts When You Can
If you can offer special discounts to your clients, offer it. Special discounts will make your clients feel like the MVPs they are. I love offering special discounts around the holiday season. It’s a great way to get my client excited to work with me and even more excited to save money.
Every client loves when you’re willing to work with them rather it be on their budgets or even on their needs as a customer. Being collaborative for me as a freelance writer means being willing to listen to my client’s suggestions and also being willing to charge a slightly lower fee if my client shares that they’ve been hit by life. As long as you keep the boundaries clear there is nothing wrong with being collaborative.
Be Great At What You Do
We all know what our mediocre work looks like and whether your client tells you or not they know what your mediocre work looks like too. Whenever you’re working with your client, give them your absolute best. Over perform and blow their minds. The greater that you are the more chances you increase not only the opportunity for repeated customers but new client referrals.
Remember, there’s no short cut or hack to greatness.
