When most people think of freelancers, they often think of only freelance writers. While writing can be pretty lucrative there are other opportunities for others to freelance whether it be full time or part time:

1. Writing

Let’s start with the obvious: freelance writing is the classic work-from-home job. This job can vary from journalist writing to copy writing. Getting started in the freelance writing journey can be relatively easily as long as you have access to a computer and a blog that can be hosted on a site such as Medium.

2. Editing and Proofreading

Because freelance writing is so popular, it’s only right that you also have an editor and proofreader on standby to insure that your content is flawless.

3. Marketing and PR

If you have a phone and an internet connection reliable enough to sustain a Skype meeting, you can do your marketing or PR job from the comfort of your own home. There are lots of training courses available online that can teach you how to effectively market and publicize in order to win clients.

4. Transcription

Transcription jobs generally come in three different industries: medical, legal, and market research. Market research generally requires the least amount of experiences. Transcription jobs are mostly outsourced by a third party agency that may require you to take a typing test before hiring you for the job. There are lots of jobs available in this industry that will not require you to pay to get started so be careful not to fall for scams.

5. Data Entry

If you can type 60 words a minute or more, and find repetitive work.  Just beware: many ads for data entry jobs will promise money in exchange for a bank account.
